AlgCalcOne: De Casteljau Bezier Curves (English)

Paul de Casteljau and Pierre Bezier were French car engineers working for competing companies who around 1960 initiated the most important development in the theory of curves of the modern era. The curves they studied we call de Casteljau Bezier curves, or dCB curves for short, are specified by a finite number of control points and are intimately connected with a family of polynomials/polynumbers named after Bernstein. We will see that these curves are of critical importance for the Algebraic Calculus, as they turn out to be polynomially parametrizable, which has major consequences in analysing areas and integration.
